BACKGROUND CHECKS
All coaches, Head or Asst, listed on "Team Contacts" (created by the commissioner assigning player and coaches to teams within the League Athletics WEB site) in the left hand menu are required by VYI Basketball to complete a Background Investigation every two years. This is one of the required items every listed Coach must complete prior to performing coaching duties for VYI.
The Background Investigation is accomplished by accessing the National Center for Safety Initiatives (NCSI) WEB site and submitting minimal required information such as name and contact information. NCSI will perform the BI and let a limited number of persons in the organization know the results. The BI creates a Red or Green light depending on results, and anyone getting a Red light will be given the opportunity to resolve any outstanding issues. Commissioners are allowed to waive certain Red light issues but there are others which cannot be waived based on a VYI Board decision.
If a coach receives a Pending status and it is maintained for more then 10 days, the coach should immediately contact NCSI to ask the status. It is up to the coach to complete their Background Investigation in a timely fashion.
