PARENTS RESPONSIBILITIES
Parents are critically important in our program as they are the ultimate guide for our children in personal conduct, understanding and balancing winning and losing, and in teaching good sportsmanship.
VYI expects parents to act as role models for their children, and indeed, all children in our program when it comes to dealing with officials, dealing with the children and dealing with other parents and fans. Parents are expected to show restraint in difficult times and to never challenge officials or other parents during VYI activities.
REQUEST A COACH
VYI encouarges parents to accept team and coach assignments as they are made by the league commissioners. This is done to help the children get used to various new teammates and coach/leaders. If parents believe a specific coach assignment is necessary they must contact the league commissioner
by email for their child's grade and gender (See "Contacts) and ask for the assignment.. This should be done between the end of tryouts and team assignments, which usually occurs about two weeks later.
REQUEST TEAMMATES
VYI will set up teams by address/school in the first grade, and will endeavor, but not guarantee, to respond to requests to put a player with ONE requested teammate in the first, second and third grade leagues,
only if the other parent requests the same assignment be made. Trying to do more creates team assignment problems for the commissioner and VYI does not ask them to assign more than two requested players together on any one team. If parents believe a specific teammate assignment is necessary, they must submit an online form entitled "Teammate Request" to their league commissioner, which is found on the "Online Forms" menu in the left hand column.
The parent of the person requested must also submit a form. This is the only way a commissioner will respond to a request.
VYI would generally not suggest that parents 4th grade and higher request teams and teammates because these are the more competitive leagues and VYI takes great pains to assign teams evenly. In no event will two #1 draft choices be placed on the same team. If parents believe a specific teammate assignment is necessary, they must submit an online form entitled "Teammate Request" to their league commissioner, which is found on the "Online Forms" menu in the left hand column.
The parent of the person requested must also submit a form. This is the only way a commissioner will respond to a request.
REFUND POLICY
VYI's refund policy is very specific and it is the parent's responsibility to request refunds within the appropriate time frames outlined in our policy found at the home page of this WEB site.
Please see VYI's Dispute Resolution page for details of how parents may bring issues to VYI's attention.
